Slide Mountain

This video features five minute vignettes of the first growth forest around Slide Montain. It begins with footage from the trailhead where larger trees dominate due to richer soil at the base of the mountain. As the video continues, you travel upwards towards the peak where stunted Red Spruce and Balsam Fir are shaped by harsh winds.

Gathering Growth has collaborated with NYC based candle company Cavern NY to create a custom scent inspired by the flora native to Slide Mountain. The candle is a combination of Balsam Fir, Rhododendron, Chrysanthemum, Aniseroot, Damp Moss, White Pine and Morning Fog. The goal is to create an immersive, remote forest bathing experience combining audio, video and scent.
